RIDE2RAIL holds first successful Stakeholder Meeting on Door-2-Door mobility & railway initiatives for MaaS
03/02/2021
On 2 February 2021, the first Stakeholder Meeting of the Shift2Rail IP4 project RIDE2RAIL was held virtually. More than 110 participants from 30 countries across the European railway community and beyond participated to the event, getting insights into the project, interacting with speakers, and learning about Door-2-Door multimodal mobility strategies.
The event was kicked off by Marc Guigon, Director of the UIC Passenger Department, who welcomed the participants and presented UIC’s activities as well as the 2021 EU Year of Rail which will be an outstanding event for all European citizens. His introductory speech was followed by a presentation from Yves Perreal of the Shift2Rail Innovation Programme IP4 (IT Solutions for Attractive Railway Services). After, Project Coordinator Giuseppe Rizzi from UITP provided an overview about the RIDE2RAIL project, its vision and objectives and its planned impacts. He also presented the work done in the first 14 month of the project, plus the next steps.
The workshop also gave participants the opportunity to learn more about railway initiatives dedicated to MaaS (Mobility as a Service) and Door-2-Door mobility. There were presentations from Rahel Kaenel from SBB (who presented the “Yumuv” MaaS initiative in Switzerland) and from Renzo Iorio from NUGO, an app allowing people to easily plan their Door-2-Door journeys.
Next up was Cristian Consonni from EURECAT, who gave a detailed overview of the technological developments within RIDE2RAIL (Offer Categorizer/Ranker, Crowd Based TSP, Agreement Ledger). These functionalities will be integrated in the S2R “enriched” Travel Companion. A “Driver Companion” is also something that the project will deliver in the next months.
Finally, Carlo Vaghi from FIT Consulting introduced the demo activities in the four RIDE2RAIL demo sites. The objectives and preliminary results of the sites (Padua, Brno, Athens and Helsinki), together with the targets in terms of KPIs, were then presented in detail, by Riccardo Santoro from FS Technology, Petr Buchníček from Oltis Group, Annie Kortsari from CERTH/HIT and Jari Honkonen from the Forum Virium Helsinki.
