Offering a seamless experience of multimodal travel is the key to promote the modal shift towards public and shared mobility and promote sustainable mobility. To achieve this, customers need to feel in control of their own trip and public transport needs to be easy to use and flexible as possible. The availability of services at your fingertips and when they are needed is essential for urban mobility as well as for extra-urban and city-to-city connections.
To verify how and where RIDE2RAIL shall ensure the reaching of these goals, the project will deploy four demonstrations in both urban and rural contexts. In these demo sites, real commuters and users will be using the solutions developed by RIDE2RAIL.
This demo will take place in a 20km radius surrounding the urban center of Padua (Italy). It will involve urban and regional mobility service providers in Veneto. The modes involved will be rail, road and bus, and ride-sharing. The pilot will be led by FSTechnology.
Brno (Czech Republic)
Led by OLTIS, the demo in Brno focuses on commuter travellers, who often travel by themselves in one car. With the help of RIDE2RAIL solutions, commuters will be encouraged to share the capacity of their cars with other travellers.
This demo area will be the 20km-long air-rail corridor between Athens Airport - Doukissis Plakentias (metro station & P+R). In the pilot, partners CERTH and AMETRO will be interconnecting carpooling and urban rail.
The Helsinki pilot focuses on improving access to rail, in particular metro, for the first and last mile. It aims to cater to the mobility needs of people in Helsinki’s most Eastern neighborhood Vuosaari, who are not served sufficiently by the current bus lines. The pilot is led by FV Helsinki and Metropolia.
